Canara HSBC Life Insurance Company Limited was incorporated in September 2007 and is headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana. It works in the life insurance sector as a bank-led private life insurer.
The company began operations in June 2008 and offers individual life insurance, group insurance, retirement and pension products, along with government schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, through a product suite of about 20 individual products, 7 group products and 2 optional riders. Its primary distribution channel is bancassurance, drawing on relationships with Canara Bank, HSBC, Punjab National Bank, eight regional rural banks and Dhanlaxmi Bank, alongside digital tie-ups with platforms such as Policybazaar. It ranked third in individual weighted premium income among bank-led insurers between FY2021 and FY2024. The company is jointly promoted by Canara Bank (51% stake), HSBC Insurance (Asia-Pacific) Holdings Limited (26% stake) and Punjab National Bank (23% stake).
Net profit rose about 24% year-on-year to Rs 113 crore in FY24, with annualised premium equivalent of Rs 1,887.79 crore and a value of new business of Rs 377.6 crore, as per the DRHP. The IPO was a mainboard book-built issue of about Rs 2,517.50 crore on the NSE and BSE, structured entirely as an offer for sale of up to 23.75 crore equity shares by Canara Bank, HSBC Insurance (Asia-Pacific) Holdings and Punjab National Bank, priced at Rs 100-106 per share, and it listed on 17 October 2025. As the offer was entirely an offer for sale, the company did not receive any proceeds from the issue, with the entire amount going to the selling shareholders.
